A time for the arts

The College of Fine Arts is beginning the 2017-18 academic year with a simple message: Now is a time for the arts.

The arts have long been a vital part of the human experience. Whether watching the Kabuki of Japan or classic ballet of France, taking in works showcased at MoMA, or absorbing the distinctive sounds of jazz, the act of engaging with the arts provides us an opportunity to examine our lived experiences and encourages us to be more creative, more observant and more aware.

Going places - Summer 2017

Some with passports in hand and others with noses in textbooks, our students are spending the summer months practicing their passions and tightening their grasps of their art forms.

We've asked a few students from each of our four academic areas to share with us their summer stories in a blog post. So while they're jetsetting across the country (or world!) and gaining incredible experience at camps, agencies, companies and festivals, we'll be living vicariously through their exciting summer exploits here on the Fine Print.

Revisiting the 2016 College of Fine Arts Recognition Awards Recipients

From professors who leave a lasting impact on their students to administrative employees who exceed the expectations of their role, there's no shortage of talented, passionate and hardworking people in the College of Fine Arts. Each year in April, to celebrate the service and contributions of some of our finest faculty and staff members, the college hosts its annual College of Fine Arts Recognition Awards reception.

As we approach the presentation of the 2017 awards, which will take place on Monday, April 24 in the lobby of the Dalton Center, we thought we'd revisit last year's reception. Below you'll see the exemplary individuals who took home an award last spring and whose names will forever adorn the College of Fine Arts Recognition Awards plaque in the Dalton Center's lobby.
